Review on 🎧 FiiO LC-2.5D 2.5mm Monocrystalline Silver Litz MMCX Cable - High-Quality Replacement for Shure SE215 SE315 SE535 JVC/FiiO FH5 FA7 FH7 by Richard Turner

Soft + cheap MMCX stranded cable (LC-D version only)

LC2.5D and LC3.5D cables could have been selected). All Litz configuration comments apply ONLY to LC-D cables. None of the others use individual wire sheathing. Suffice it to say that there is a completely different design between this D-cable and the other options. While it's just a cable and I usually hate doing cable reviews, this product will get a little more love for its construction and price. Is this cable worth the money? TL;DR - Not sure? In terms of performance, probably not. But custom stranded wire costs at least the same, and that's not even worth considering if you want all-silver stranded wire. This cable has a soft, durable feel and the price is right. However, if you're searching and wondering why a cable costs over $100, this cable probably isn't for you. Cables are an odd segment of the IEM market. Some people absolutely swear that cables and various aspects of their construction, including the metal used, the type of jacket, the jacket, and whether or not it's stranded, will change the sound. Some people also swear that cables take time too. Is there any truth to that? Well maybe in some cases? While there isn't much objective evidence of using certain types of cables over very short distances due to performance concerns, you'll find that many people claim that there are audible, albeit minor, improvements in sound. After seeing the measurements of several aftermarket cables, the frequency response hasn't changed. Lower impedance wires can sound louder and therefore provide a perceived improvement in quality since there is slightly more energy across all bands at the same volume setting. Subjectively, the statements range from more audible details to increased hearing in certain frequency ranges to no change at all. It is claimed that the greatest change in perception occurs when going from standard stranded wire to stranded wire and also from copper to silver plated copper (SPC) or pure silver wire. Cores (individual cores/conductors) are sheathed. In other words, if a single cable consists of 4 conductors, it means that the cable consists of 4 bundles of any number of strands, and each frame is protected by a single sheath and separated from the other strands. This supposedly reduces the "skin" and "closeness" effects that wires can have in close proximity to each other. You can read more about it on Wikipedia or other online resources. Just be aware that there is a scientifically proven theory behind the manufacture and use of these types of wires. However, the effectiveness of these wires when using IEMs is hotly debated. As an added benefit, stranded cables are known to be more resistant to oxidation when properly soldered due to the individual coating of each conductor. I may have heard some differences, I can't pinpoint any particular one, and I couldn't point out exactly what was different, so my experience could be entirely psychosomatic. However, I was and still am interested in quality IEM cables, if only to suit my own preferences. The bottom line is that if you're interested in buying custom cables for your IEMs, you'll be paying more for the experience for your IEMs. This cable is an ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) Pure Silver Lite cable. It uses MMCX connectors to connect headphones and comes with 4.4mm balanced Pentaconn, 2.5mm balanced and 3.5mm unbalanced amplifier connectors. I bought the 4.4mm jack for use with some new Fiio products, in my case the Q5, and for future use with Sony portables like the NW-ZX300 and upcoming ZX500 DAPs. The cable uses a textile core in the conductors for a softer and more durable cable. It comes in a plain box with text and a window, and also includes a white Fiio-branded zip tie. The first product I received was defective with a completely wrong channel and correct connector, which actually broke one of my MMCXs. to MDR-EX1000 adapter. However, Revain was quick to send a replacement and the second works great. So far I've enjoyed it. Weaving is free, but this is not critical. The cable is very soft and flexible. It's pretty easy too. I've tested it with a couple of Campfire IO and Campfire Andromeda S cables, and while I don't hear any difference in sound compared to the SPC flex that comes with both cables, this cable is much more comfortable, smoother, and in my opinion . looks better than the standard memory wire flex cable that came with the old Andromeda and Andromeda S. While I personally like the ergonomics of Campfire Audio's new Smokey Litz cable, it doesn't look as pretty with the stainless steel body. Andro S likes this cable. Zeos once mentioned that he only sees the cables as decoration and as I'm not hearing any performance benefits I wouldn't recommend this cable to anyone with MMCX headphones. However, if you are looking for higher quality IEM cables and have looked for Litz custom cable solutions from Null-Audio or elsewhere, I can recommend this as a cheaper, higher quality alternative to similar products. . I'm happy with my purchase so far, apart from the initial problem with a broken cable. I'm not deducting a star for that though, as using the second cable was a real pleasure. However, if you've read this and still don't understand why a piece of wire costs over $100, then don't buy this cable. ** Disclaimer: ** Sound perception is subjective and all statements above should be taken as opinion rather than objective fact. I am human and therefore fallible. This item was purchased by me for private use. No one has asked or otherwise attempted to influence the content of this review in any way. Thank you for reading.
