It looks like a piece of jewelry so it doesn't scream "I'm OLD!" The chain is long enough for me to keep it in front of my eyes without looking too long if she is carried (and my grandma is small). It's a mix of silver and gold with some bling so it goes with everything. My grandmother liked it very much. We also bought her a much larger, black plastic (not heavy), foldable, glowing one for use at home. There's no reason anyone should sacrifice their dignity to read, nor did I want her to have to lug around a large plastic book if she didn't want to. The ONLY gripe I have is a bit of practice and a bit of dexterity (limited handshakes) but that's a compromise and that's why I also bought the plastic as a spare. I wouldn't want to use this as a solution for long reading at home.
