Gibraltar Mailboxes ADM11B01 Admiral Mailbox: $38.71 at time of mailbox review. That's a little surprising, because we have the same problem every winter: our mail gets wet in the rain. So that was number one on the new mailbox checklist: get a waterproof mailbox. The patented door design seemed like a good place to start, so I tried this Gibraltar door. *What I liked*: This is a classic design approved by the Postmaster General. I wasn't looking for anything special, but I liked the black powder coating. The design of the door is great and seems to keep the water out for the most part. in which direction it is oriented. *What I didn't like*: The door unfortunately works well, but the sides of the mailbox aren't equally protected. They bowed a little when installed, leaving gaps that a strong winter storm would blow water through. I used waterproof silicone caulk to seal the cracks but only time will tell if it holds up or not. The side opening issue only becomes serious when you have severe winter storms (we have). I think this will probably work for most people. Four stars out of five for old reliable. I would order it again and solve my only problem the same way.
