Review on Revolutionize Construction Fun with ROKR Marble Mechanical Building Friends by Trey Ali

I give two stars for the joy I had during the 11.5 hours of construction. At some point I found that it wasn't working properly. Before I explain I have built many ROKR kits so I understand tight connections and the need for tight connections and reading between the lines where the instructions are not detailed. enough. This was a difficult kit as it requires extreme pressure on sensitive joints. I used personal tools (tweezers and needle nose pliers) which are not included in the kit and without which I feel the assembly would be impossible. This ball lift starts with the ball lifters on the right side with the bottom gear going up to the top gear assembly and then needs to feed the left side lift. The problem with the design is that the entire assembly tilts to the right, so the bullet doesn't want to shift from low to high gear. Also, the transfer floor between the two gears is poorly designed, not allowing enough room for the ball to fit into the slots of the top gear. There's nothing Elmer and Dermel's glue can fix. I believe if the hole in the plexiglass gears were bigger it might help, but I lowered the transfer floor (between the two gears) and glued it in place to allow the balls to go in without restriction. So far so good but the balls still tilt away from the gear so I adjusted the legs on the right side to tilt more to the left and then glued a guide from the bottom gear to the top gear to hold the balls to keep from straying. Assembling on the transfer floor, then I used my dremel to cut off part of the curved arm you saw in the middle of my picture to make room for the ball. With changes, the build works correctly, but does not need to be done. This and no changes were required on any of the ball's previous runs. It's a shame but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they are willing and able to redo the build.
