Toxic Smoke for Small Appliances
We got it as a gift and were happy to try it. We followed limited instructions (the entire manual is a sheet of paper) and when we turned it on the heating element started to smoke horribly. It looked like the thermostat knob was about to light up. We ordered a replacement from Revain (which came quickly) and she did the same. I turned it on with water inside for fifteen minutes and it wouldn't stop emitting smoke with a burnt plastic/rubber smell. Disgusting. And not sure. I hope it's just residue on the heating element but the instructions don't say anything about it and this is the second unit to have had the exact same problem.
