Unfortunately, the regular replacement solar panels offered by gate manufacturers are insanely expensive, so I decided to try this option: 4x the rated power and a bit more. It seems to work well, although I deducted a star because the panel has no mounting brackets and nothing but a couple of unevenly drilled holes in the aluminum frame. We ended up building our own mount using an old DirecTV dish mount and a wooden pull-out frame we designed ourselves. It took more work overall, but we saved a lot of money in the process. We didn't need any special inverters or control circuitry as the gate's electronics were already tuned to the input from the solar panel and the voltage was what the box expected.
