Review on Vine Homecare Food Grade Maintain Cracking by Brittany Ross

Works well but the bottle is not sealed.

I have never greased my wooden cutting boards or utensils with mineral oil - it was usually butter on a rag after finishing my cast iron after cleaning if I was using a wooden tool and felt it was too became dry. After noticing that some of the tools looked and felt dry and gritty, I decided to try mineral oil and treat all the wood in my kitchen. There were so many that I collected them all in one place! Teak spatulas, beech spatulas, bread boards and old spoons made from unfamiliar woods, bamboo chopping boards and bowls all needed more lubrication than I care to admit. All woods were deeply soaked with this oil and some needed more than one treatment. Since then they all look and feel a lot better and I'm happy to be using something that is better suited to keeping my wooden instruments in good condition over time. As others have pointed out, this bottle was not sealed. Mine didn't leak but it should have been sealed if sold for food contact items. Being my first time using mineral oil I didn't think the price was that bad either, but after a quick search for 100% USP mineral oil I would say that price is quite high, especially since it wasn't sealed. There was no plastic shrink wrap on the cap of the bottle, nor the expected security seal under the cap. While happy with the results, I will not recommend any product that is not sealed or has obvious marks. Justification for such a high cost. Vine Homecare - Food Grade Mineral Oil - Conditions and protects wooden cutting boards, countertops, cutting blocks and more - prevents cracking and drying out
