I've been in IT for over 17 years (and even longer than "computers in the family") and have worked with many printers: Canon, Lexmark, Epson, Brother, Konica, HP, Ricoh and all have their pros and cons. As a former professional photographer, I also trusted Canon and Epson for accurate photo reproduction. In the summer of 2019, Canon announced the release of 4 new PIXMA printers, including the PIXMA TS6320, just in time for the school season. So how does the student-focused TS6320 photo printer fare? Very good! BENEFITS - Upgraded from its predecessor TS6220 with easier setup process and updated user interface - 5 individual ink cartridges (Magenta, BK Black, Yellow, PGBK Pigment Black, Cyan) for more efficient use of colors, ink cost savings and improved output. Exceptional print quality, especially photos, with a 5-cartridge system. The text output is very crisp up to a font size of about 6pt. Can print, copy and scan (all in one). Easy setting. Compact size 14.9" x 14.2" x 5.6" - The print tray opens and closes automatically when the printer is turned on/off, further saving space - Automatic paper width detection - Excellent support for mobile devices so you can print directly from your Apple iOS or Android phone/tablet Press the QR code button on the printer and you will be connected directly to the mobile app to download it Multiple printing methods: Wi- Fi (including AirPrint, Google Cloud Print), Bluetooth, Ethernet wired network and/or wired USB (cable not included) - Apple: Compatible with Mac OS - Clear, easy-to-read 1.44" OLED display with indicator of printer status and print jobs - Automatic duplex printing, enables printing on BOTH sides, saves paper and storage space - Dual paper input trays allow plain paper and photo paper to be loaded and prepared at the same time - See p hr great Now there is an LED status bar on the front that gives a visual indication that a print job is actively being processed - sample photo paper is enabled - sample ink cartridges are enabled, which is industry standard. Note that they will run out sooner than usual. CONS - Designed for quality, not print volume - Although photo print quality is excellent, graphics show subtle banding in dark areas - No automatic document feeder, making the printer better suited for printing and copying small volumes. No support for USB drives or SD cards. Paper compartment for approx. 30 pages. TIPS. The Canon PRINT for Inkjet/SELPHY mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The media brochure and QR code on the ink cartridge will also take you straight there - If the app on your phone or tablet supports it, you can select a Canon printer for direct printing - If you don't print for a while, your nozzle can do something dry out. From time to time you may need to run a self-cleaning cycle to ensure optimal ink delivery. However, the PIXMA TS series is known for its excellent photo reproduction, where images and colors look fantastic. Delivering great results for small homes and small offices, this printer is well suited for students who need to print reports and presentations.
