Just installed a pair of these in the front position lights on my 2006 MINI Cooper S (R53). They work like magic. I've seen on some MINI user forums that some people have had the experience of the fault lights illuminating on the dashboard on different MINI models and different brand LEDs. I haven't seen this issue specifically on 2006 models, so it may not be so much an LED backlight issue as it is with a specific MINI type. They tend to fix such silly little things year after year. However, this lamp works in R53, production date June 2006. Installation tips: Access under the hood. (Not on the underside of the hood. There are headlights. Not behind the wheel hub. Access to the fog lights from here. I hope I never have to do that. God. Seriously. Wheel hub socket just to change a light bulb? For how many people does it take? Heh heh And where can I find a replacement for those little plastic lugs that hold the hubcap in place? Because you know at least three will break.) Anyway. To replace the bulb in question: 1. First unscrew the yellow turn signal connector to facilitate manual access to the parking light. (counterclockwise) I'm not sure if that's an exaggeration, but I wrapped the light/socket in a rag and set it aside to avoid accidentally breaking this light when I try to pull out the side light.2 . Also unscrew the parking light cartridge anti-clockwise. It's a little harder as it's smaller and harder to grab. I wrapped a wide piece of rubber around the bushing and GENTLY clamped it with pliers. Just a slight twist loosened it enough to be finished by hand.3. I noticed the location of the wires at the base of the bulb as I pulled it out, particularly the part that goes into the bulb body. (You'll know what I'm talking about when you get there.) If the light is out, it's easy to fix, so no big deal.4. Check the light before attaching the sockets.5. Do a happy dance.
