Suspected Counterfeit Chip
I also suspect this cable has a counterfeit/counterfeit chip (I believe it may be defective). I use Linux and have NEVER had a problem with CAT programming/control cables. This works intermittently. This works for a short time, then I get a disconnect message in my software, I click 'Retry' and it reconnects, but it keeps going. I switched to a different cable and no more problems. Will try to get a refund for this one I guess as it wasn't cheap when it comes to cables.
