The story of my particular copy (December of the 12th year of release) is similar to a Hollywood melodrama. It was bought by a relative, like a removable hard drive (A-date or some kind of Chinese). However, after several months of operation, he began to show signs of death agony (through usb only with a kick or blackout), and then stopped seeing each other at all. In return, another celestial warrior was bought, and this corpse was laid out on a shelf, where I found it a year later. Then wave your hand - they say, take it. Armed with a screwdriver, I quickly found out that the controller was to blame. It was replaced with a straight sata-usb 3.0 cable (high-quality) without a case. In this form, my newly-made friend went through all the ordeals - he drowned in a puddle in the rain, fell from the second floor (well, on mineral wool), received electric shocks (overloads, a nasty transformer at a construction site), dust, heat, and so on . At the same time, smart is 100%, there is no overheating, performance is 100%. After that, in 2022, he found his place as a system drive on a small computer. Didn't let me down, showing 100/100 and decent speed. All this time he worked with ich10 - an orthodox intel controller. Everything changed in 2022. In the working system, it was replaced by a small ssd disk, and hgst moved to a small industrial hell built on the basis of ga-x58A-ud5 2.0. I hooked it up to a Marvell SE9128 controller. And that's when the parking heads began, crackling noise and vibration! I realized in time what was happening and hooked it into a free regular sata II (because 2 ich10 6 Gb / s slots were filled with ssd). As the grandmother whispered - again quiet and smooth. I continued to experiment with controllers (including hinged ones) and made sure that only with Intel ones it works fine in AHCI. Finally, he found his place in htpc to my TV, where, probably, he will stand to the end :). Perhaps I was lucky - I got tenacious, because. in laptops at work, 3 of them burned out (out of 4 ! - this is 75% marriage !), without even working for a year. By the way, in the laptops they are all February 14. So it goes.
