I would say the listed filtration rate in gallons per minute is accurate based on my experience. I've been using it for both plants and drinking water since our city switched to a chloramine-based drainage system. You can feel the difference in the water. If you drink a lot of filtered water and/or use it for a small garden or houseplant, it's a much better investment than the Brita or Pur systems.
