I turn off all other lights and just use this salt lamp every night as I'm getting ready for bed to get started. I love the warm yellow light it gives off and the wood design on the metal case makes for a cool pattern! I had no problems with that. Setup was as easy as plugging in and turning on; There is a dial that makes it lighter or darker depending on your preference. I used to have a salt lamp with a glass bowl instead of a metal bowl; The glass broke after the bulb burned out a bit and I had to throw it away. I'm really glad I found this salt lamp as it matches some of my other items and seems to be holding up really well!
