Review on ALTRA Womens AL0A4QTP Trail Running Sports & Fitness by Jun Alves

timps saved my legs

at 61 i thought i had to quit trail running because i developed a "blood blister" on the pad under my thumb where the bone was literally pinching (which was devastating since I only started when I was 60 and it was the only exercise I ever enjoyed and stuck with). Being a diabetic I wanted to avoid damage and started padding them heavily - first corn pads, then half foot gel gloves, then taped everything to stay in place, which didn't happen, I tried pads, hoki, a combination of everything, but nothing eased the pain. But when I tried the alternatives the zero drop (they are the same height from toe to heel) seemed to take away enough pressure that I was fine, no pain at all, even without anything but thin socks. Obviously as we age we lose fat from the balls of our feet (yes, places to lose fat of all places) and the added pressure of daily walking/jogging was just too much. I never thought that a few millimeters of heel height could make a difference, but it does. all ages have zero drop, some have more cushioning, some have a different outsole, timps are my personal favorite. As far as I know, no other company makes zero-drop soft shoes, but at least Altra has a wide selection. I threw other things away and I no longer have nerve pain.
