First of all: I didn't expect that thing to cool my room or work as an air conditioner. I was hoping I could keep this thing pointed at my head at night to keep me a little cooler when I'm trying to sleep. I'll say it really cools the air - sort of. I did several measurements and tests when the temperature in my room was 82.0 degrees. I had the fan filled with ice and ice water on high settings and turned on cooling mode. With the thermometer half an inch from the fan, the air temperature was 79.2 degrees (cooler, yes). At a distance of 6 inches, the air temperature was 81.2 degrees. So basically it doesn't generate much cold air and doesn't spread cold air a long distance. And if you think about basic physics, there's no reason to expect this thing to do anything special - after an hour of plugging it in and watching my room soar to 82 degrees, all the ice was to this time melted. The peak of the effectiveness of this product has already passed, since over time the water only warms up. I love the idea of this product (and many similar products using the same technical premise), they just don't work.
