Not very suitable for high heels

I hate collecting shelves. I can honestly say that assembling these shelves was easy. I assembled the first stage and then my nine year old twins did most of it. I bought two. I just made sure that each section is firmly seated. I use this shelf exclusively for high heels. The non-woven fabric is not ideal for stilettos or other non-flat-soled shoes. The fabric has some stretch which means the heels will wobble a bit and once you're in place you live in fear of someone bumping into the shelf and knocking over one or more. I knew it was a fabric shelf, but I assumed the fabric would be very tight since it was a "shoe shelf". That's not the case. Looking at photos of heels on a hanger posted by other reviewers, this seems to be "not a problem". Trust me, that's the problem. My shoes look nice on the shelf but are not as stable as my previous shoe rack and some had to be positioned very carefully to even stay on my feet. Each shelf really needs some sort of insert in the fabric for stability so it can be used for high heel shoes. I can say the height between shelves was perfect and shoes 4+ inches and larger held comfortably. This shelf wouldn't hold up 5" and 6" heels to the sky. Luckily I don't have one that's much larger than 4 inches. The ports, while transparent, are a little unsightly as they don't appear to fuse. Keep in mind I wasn't expecting a high end shelf, I just think it's not a shelf that most women would like. At the end. I can easily see that this would be a much better choice for a gift for a boyfriend/husband to show off his collection of athletic shoes as the non-woven fabric is not an issue for these types of shoes. It also looks a bit like a dressing room. Overall I can't say this is a bad shelf. It was inexpensive, held a lot of shoes, and was easy to assemble. I just think ladies should beware if you are using this for heels and not flats the pictures are a little deceiving. I would not recommend it for your high heel shoe collection. I wrote this review specifically to warn other women who might want to use it for this purpose as I am currently looking for something better and will only keep it long enough to warrant a purchase and then give it to a male friend .
