Bought this cassette to replace a Sunrace 11-40 on my hardtail. The difference in gear shifting is really noticeable. I had an xt rear derailleur with a Sram chain and a Sunrace cassette. I also got a matching Shimano Deore cassette with XT chain and to be honest it made the overall performance that much better. Shimano never disappoints. I also got the B bolt for the derailleur and lengthened it to raise the chain all the way up to the largest cog. It's also lighter than the previous Sunrace cassette. Note that when upgrading from a 36t cassette to this 42t cassette you may need to lengthen the chain, ensure the derailleur is a long/medium cage and may need to get an extended B-bolt , contact your local bicycle dealer.
