I bought this because I realized you can clean the old one (but you still have to put it in there while you're doing it). Also, I really didn't feel like cleaning at the moment. It was pretty easy. Technically you should have disconnected the battery (for safety reasons) but I didn't. It's just a matter of being extra careful that the two dots don't touch, so I was very careful and saved myself quite a bit of time. After installing it, I made sure it fit snugly. I also changed the starter and it started right away. I learned a few years ago that when you change the starter, it's imperative that you also change the solenoid while you're doing it. Really smart move. It worked very well.
