Our five year old has been fascinated by the firefly doll for a while. I finally bought this little gem and she loves it. She puts it to bed and uses it for imagination and as a "night light" when she wakes up and is scared. She was watching an informational program on PBS (Wild Kratts) about the life of fireflies, including how they blink. We assumed the blinking was random, but it's not! Now she's practicing blinking and knowing what it means. This toy has educational value and is also fun to play with.
