Impractical for someone who really uses their junk

Honestly, I was able to beat the $200 price tag because I care about aesthetics in almost everything in my home and also because I'm a passionate cook and constantly use my kitchen and kitchen scraps throughout the day. I am willing to invest in a high quality, functional product. This bin, while undeniably "quality", is the opposite of functionality for those who actually cook and/or use their kitchen a lot. First, you cannot open the lid. This is a deal breaker for those who have a heavily used kitchen and want to be able to run up and dispose of cutting board scraps or toss something in the bin from the other side of the kitchen etc. The mixed reviews had me wondering if the lid actually opens. Let me explain: NO. The only way to keep the lid up is to lift the inside edge/lid that holds the edges of the bin liners when you change liners. But keeping that interior space open means the entire inner rim and interior areas are exposed to dirt during maintenance. It is also a kind of pain to open and close in this way. It's impractical. The containers are too small. To be honest this was the largest trash can and trash can combo I could find but the trash cans are tiny. If you cook a lot or have a family, these containers are not for you. I only live with my husband and every night I cook dinner for us and we have to empty these bins on a daily basis. I can't imagine how much more family it would be. The containers are so narrow that they restrict filling. Bottles and cans, that's all. The bin filled up quickly after trying to put some old wilted flowers in it and then cooking the leftovers from ONE dinner. Path. Too much of. Small. If you are a real avid cook this is not the bin for you. If you have a family and cook in moderation, this is not the bin for you. If you're single or possibly in a relationship and don't actually cook much or generate a lot of trash at all, you're fine if you want something nice and chic.
