I bought this card for an older i3 on an EVGA P55 motherboard. I am using esata to connect to a Raid 5 enclosure. I had very slow write speeds for a while and was frustrated with changing hard drives, cables and eventually the enclosure itself. Nothing worked. I finally got this to rule out the Esata port as the cause, even though the Esata ports are rated at 3Gbps on the motherboard. The motherboard manufacturer stopped releasing new drivers two years ago. All you have to do is plug this card into a free PCI-E slot and you're done. "Asmedia Sata" lights up shortly after a Bios message. The write speed has increased from 30-60 MB/s to 100-140 MB/s. Read speed 140-180 MB/s The card solved my problem. Not satisfied with the motherboard manufacturer. I only give 4 stars because the card is significantly more expensive than other Esata cards. Based on performance and ease of installation alone, 5 stars.
