Review on GE WB2X9154 Gas Igniter: Efficient Broiler and Oven Sparking Solution by Kevin Apriando

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Save money by repairing yourself. The part works - ceramic tips included.

Detail: This igniter was fitted to a GE gas range. The part ordered is identical but with shorter wires and no wire connectors. The order also included small ceramic wire tips. (Because of the reviewers' comments, I ordered others but didn't need them.) Instructions: I can't read the instructions, but I can tell they were small with no pictures. If you need instructions and pictures, please visit their website. They have a great video to help. Installation: Easy; Estimated 10 to 30 minutes depending on availability and skills - if you have the tools ready. I recommend using a multimeter to make sure the igniter is the problem so you don't waste time and money doing this. The igniter was under the bottom plate (the part that can trap grease and spills inside). The connections are accessible under the stove by removing the storage box. Leave the power on to test. I sealed the access hole so I don't lose the wire and it's not easy to remove. When you receive the part, compare the wires to the old part you removed. Cut the wires from the old part to connect to the new part so you have the necessary connections. The cable lugs that came with it work great. Turn off the power supply during replacement to avoid spark and cause damage. (Most electrical cabinets have a separate circuit breaker for the oven.) I did NOT turn off the gas because the stove has a safety feature that prevents gas from escaping when it's not on. By the way, I could do this job without removing the oven door. Before replacing the bottom plate and storage box, test the new part by turning on the power, turning on the inner plate (bake and preheat) and wait a few seconds. You should see the igniter glow softer and brighter, and then a flame of ignited gas along the part where the igniter is attached. Towel (so as not to lose pieces, scratch with sharp objects, etc.), which improves the rating (at the time of review): the seller can put a video link in the instructions and the Revain offer. The seller can confirm the ceramic wire tips. The item was not in the GE box but was well boxed and packaged. I used the new igniter several times before posting my review and confirming that it works. Summary: item is accurate, ceramic wire tips included, seller has video tutorial on their website , easy installation; part works. In short, save money by repairing yourself. You can do it!
