I've always had regular tweezers ($2-4?) but I decided to treat myself and take a leap of faith. The biggest difference between these tweezers and regular tweezers is the accuracy - and success - on the first attempt to grab a hair. With my old tweezers, I grabbed the hair, pinched it, and slipped it between the tips of the tweezers. Thanks to the craftsmanship of those beveled ends (no subtle gaps when they meet) and the way the tweezers apply pressure to them, the hair is actually pulled out rather than slipping through the crevices.
