This was done by Amazon, although the invoice clearly states that it is being sold by store4pc, a Sabrent partner/distributor. The product is clearly not genuine, as confirmed by Sabrent technical support. They don't use Kensington chipsets, instead they use a Phishon controller and a Toshiba chipset. TO EDIT. a few days later this changed, see the end of the review. The card was behaving strangely and ran poorly, less than 1/3 of rated speed. Investigated further and found that the card is running at 512e and not native 4k and SMART is not available. It was a red flag. 1 installed the drive in Windows 10 and used Sabrents software to format it to 4k. After rebooting, I kept getting told it's still 512e. I brought it back to my other platform and it told me it was running 4k but the performance was still way off spec. By removing the device from the heatsink and inspecting it, you can clearly see that the chipset does not match the manufacturer's photos. The Kingston controller is not covered with a sticker and there is no P HL chip on the PCI-E cutout. The layout of the whole board is wrong. sent the photos to the manufacturer who confirmed the disc was fake. the buyer should be careful. EDITSabrent's technical department called me back a few days later and confirmed that production had changed the specification and design of the product and had taken care of it. Tell someone, even Sabrentas tech support, which I pointed out when you compare the location of the chips, paying special attention to the resistors and cache chip on the PCI-E connector. You can see it doesn't match the picture posted here on Amazon Mfg. Next if you look at the photo of the 3 reference layouts for Phison you will notice that the card is on the right, the E12 reference layout is what Mfg advertises with it but if you look at the photo of the part I received , it looks more like a 2017 E8 layout. I didn't even get an E8 power stage out of the drive. Photos don't lie. Mfg has changed the specification or their Mfg staff have not been able to keep up with demand and are renaming old stock in hopes the consumer will not notice. Change the design specification to make it cheaper at the expense of performance without notifying the customer. it's a bait, and the switch can't recommend Sabrent products at this time until the company takes action. But be careful, what is advertised or listed on the Sabrents website may not be the product you end up receiving.
