My parents recently bought a washing machine that has controls and indicators at the top of the door that closes with the counter when closed. You can never tell if the car is clean or dirty until they open it and take out the shelves. They've had multiple instances of dirty dishes being placed in a clean dishwasher, or "dirty" dishes being put back in the cabinets because they were half empty from the sink.
