I purchased a set of MacBook Pro Lock (Retina) protective sleeves for my MacBook Pro Retina in late October 2012. against damage and above all against theft. Like many others, I was unpleasantly surprised at the lack of a lock slot on the new Retina. This Maclocks product made sense. I installed the product and have been using it for about 8 months and only recently part of the bottom of the case broke. This is the part to the left above the air vents. Of course I contacted Maclocks and they replied: Sorry but the 1 year warranty only applies to cable locks, metal case and stand. Needless to say I was disappointed. . Firstly, I expect a company like Maclocks to guarantee their products no matter what. More importantly, this is a product whose sole purpose is to protect against damage and theft. If a part of the product breaks during normal use, that is not reassuring. It doesn't make me feel like I can trust the product to do what it's designed to do. Help, but come to the conclusion that this product is absolutely not up to the task. I recommend anyone considering this product to look elsewhere. There are more options now than back then. Be sure to check the fine print.
