Greetings from Berlin! I have been dealing with sergers (including 5-thread stitchers) for ages and would like to give you more information. First off, the current price is the real deal! I bought a serger here in Germany for almost the same price BUT in euros. The reason for the price drop is probably because so many owners (especially newbies) have so many issues with it (I'm guessing 1 in 3 or 4 cars come back with Revain). Which is NOT mandatory. As other reviewers have mentioned multiple times, the key is reading the entertaining manual. The car is really good and strong, the only thing you need to learn to handle. If you are a true beginner and/or tend to be impatient, this machine is not for you. Go and find something easy to start with. For everyone else: Take some money and buy this item. And also download a workbook, and then: study and practice. For those unfamiliar with the current brand mix: Singer, Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking have been ONE company (SVPs worldwide) for a number of years. Search the web and compare the following machines: Singer Professional 5, Pfaff Coverlock 3.0 and 4.0 and Husqvarna Viking Huskylock S25 (maybe some of these aren't available in the US, google it anyway). Don't be fooled by looks, they look different but aren't. Inside you'll find exactly the same movement (except for the Pfaff 4.0 and HV Huskylock S25, which have an electronic display, but that's pretty much the only difference). If you compare the manuals, which are also available for download, it becomes clear that the basic chassis is the same. What is wrong is the price. When you buy a Singer overlock machine, you get a Pfaff Coverlock 3.0 in a different design and without a side table. For sewing problems and broken threads/needles: use the money you save and buy GOOD overlock thread and make sure you use the correct needles; ordinary standard needles for ordinary household sewing machines are not suitable. Yes, size does matter! :-) Especially with coverstitch it is important to use real quality yarn. Imagine how much money you spent on a loom compared to the price of a few spools of good yarn. Another reason is that you've put time and sometimes nerve into your sewing projects and if you use quality thread it will last for years without breaking. By the way, high-quality yarns look even better on clothes. :-) One more very simple thing to always keep in mind: when changing or exchanging needles, make sure to INSERT THE ENTIRELY, it's as easy as loosening ALL the screws and then carefully inserting the needles before inserting them Tighten the screws again. (Please tighten ALL screws, even unused ones, the needle bar is a high speed thing, and if the screws are not tight, you may find them elsewhere or not at all, and you often need to visit your local dealer to buy new ones. ) . There is very little space in the needle holder and if you do not loosen the screw next to the one that secures the needle being replaced, the screw next to it will block the path for the needle, resulting in incorrect needle position. necessary for synchronization with loopers. If the difference is much less than 1 millimeter (sorry Europeans :-)) it doesn't work and it's NOT a machine error. It needs to be properly configured to get correct results. Last but not least, for those having problems with the auto-tension: do what the manual says: put the ATD handle back in the appropriate position after refueling the machine. , simply re-enter ATD when all desired threads are properly inserted into the tension discs. Rule: Skipped stitches = Needle problem (broken or incorrectly inserted needle), loose, loose stitches: Tension problem (thread not inserted correctly in discs, wrong program or dirt/dust between tension discs) :-) When sewing 2 - thread cover stitch Think Remember that the thread for the right stitch runs as it would normally run for the top looper! When sewing with a wide 2-thread coverstitch, the normal thread path of the right needle is NOT used!
