I like this brass. Brushed brass is hard to find in big stores. But there is a more authentic marine look. The big problem I had is this: I wanted this for the bathroom but the lampshades made the area above so dark that it couldn't be used for this application. I exchanged the shades for glass shades. I liked brass so much I wanted a bracket. I solved my problem with minimal cost. The light was easy to install, but I had trouble securing the post between the mount and the brackets. As soon as I tightened it, the levers got in the way of the mounting screws. This could use a design tweak. Once I've taken care of these admittedly personal little things, the bathroom light looks great and works well. If I were using it as a wall light in a hallway, bedroom or similar, I probably wouldn't make any changes.
