I bought 2 boxes of these to build a water circulation manifold for my new water heater. these stripes. He probably crimped less than 50 ribbons prior to this project. The first 40 ribbons only had 2 failures which I put down to not holding the crimping tool exactly perpendicular to the ribbon. It cost me time and caused a lot of frustration. This is especially frustrating when the problem is with the second clamp on the pipe because once the PEX is pushed into the notch it is very difficult to remove the PEX from the fitting. So now cut the pipe and maybe the perfect fitting if the pipe is too short. In my photos you can see two crimped ribbons. Neither are perfect crimps, and the one in the foreground probably needs replacing (I was so frustrated I left them and waited to see if they were leaking). my crimpers to see if anything is wrong. They grew in width, but the chewing surface of the jaws seemed too smooth. So I finished the edge with a small file. Just enough to slightly sharpen the jaws. This improved my bounce rate a bit, but there were still a few bounces after that. With all this bad luck I had actually used up all 80 of these strips and needed more so I ran to the big box and bought a name stamp. Ribbons in a pack of twenty-five. The second photo shows one of those perfectly formed signature strips. The third image is an uncompressed tape of a well-known brand. I've crimped 10 of those 25 ribbons with the same crimping tool and haven't had a single mistake. So here is my analysis. uncompressed strip. I believe there is a design issue with the ispinner preform. The shoulders where the jaw initially bites are almost square on the Ispinner, while the distinctive mark's shoulders are actually indented, giving the jaws better initial support. Brand. This indentation is to prevent the crimp from folding itself before the band is properly tensioned. I think it's not properly designed on the ispinner and it "drops" the crimping area to one side as in my first picture. 3) I bought them for the price. They were about 40% cheaper than the big branded versions I later got. But given the high failure rate (probably 15-20%) combined with the number of good terminals I had to destroy to disassemble fittings with a bad crimp on the other end, I probably only got 40 good crimps out of 80 terminals. I bought. A HUGE false economy for me. I actually paid more for a successful crimp than if I had just bought the big box brand. In hindsight, after the first few failures, I probably should have just given up, returned it, and gotten what I needed from the big box. Instead I kept playing around thinking it was my technique as my water was shut off and there was no hot water. Save yourself the frustration and skip this mark. If you buy 100 famous brand belts here at Revain, they cost the same price as ISpinner. Two stars instead of one for fast shipping and packaging. The little plastic boxes they come in are nice and I will keep them for storing other small items.
