Review on Pirelli Ice Zero 205/60 R16 96T winter by Micha Puzio ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, but having its own defects.

The dimension is 215-60-16 when in use. At least cover your ears with your hands through the first thousand kilometers as they buzzed and thundered viciously before rolling into a somewhat peaceful one. 22 tkm in total during 2 seasons, mostly in the Hong Kong area and Hong Kong. Driving at speeds between 100 and 110 km/h is considered tranquil. I have not lost a single spike during that period, and there has been almost minimal tread degradation. I'll go on to describe how various coverage kinds behave next. 1) Asphalt. It demonstrates good traction when accelerating and braking on dry and wet pavement. They start to slip off the arc while making fast turns into somewhat tight corners, possibly because of the relatively high profile. Just the way the profile "folds" sideways is felt. 2. Dry loose snow and wet snow "porridge". Excellent conduct. 3. Packed snow and ice. A disappointing revelation then materialized. Acceleration and deceleration in a straight line are excellent. Cling immediately. On such a surface, however, side slip starts up shockingly early when passing an arc. The tires can only maintain traction for a certain ratio of arc steepness to speed before the automobile starts to purposefully swerve to the side. If you enter the arc more suddenly or quickly, though. Perhaps there are tire models that offer even less lateral grip, but I'm comparing them to the Hankook iPike W409 tires from the last vehicle, which covered roughly 60 tkm in 4 seasons while being driven similarly. Although there was no such sliding, there were drawbacks. In general, pretty decent tires for easy driving, but they need attention in tight turns.

Pros
  • - good wear resistance; - adequate noise after running; - good grip on any surfaces at speeds up to 100 in a straight line.
Cons
  • - an early side slide tendency that is moderately pronounced on ice. - in tight curves on asphalt at speeds more than 100 descent from the arc
