I didn't want to risk my expensive LiFePO4 batteries with a cheap BMS. I hooked up the BMS, cell voltage monitor and the exact smart charger to see if it works. My board did exactly what it was told it would charge. I didn't test for short circuit or over current as my circuit also uses a circuit breaker and it trips first. I repeated the charge test with a "dumb" 15V DC 6 amp power supply and the cells charged to the correct voltage and then the BMS shut off the charge power to avoid over voltage. It appears to be within 0.1VDC of what is expected and is safe. Your mileage may vary, but so far I'm happy. I am using it well below its current rating. I find current ratings for budget modules to be on the optimistic side, close to the point of failure, so it's best to buy big and not spend a lot of time on the track.
