The effect is still ok.

I was hoping these kitchen towels were all cotton and absorbent. You are not. I washed them before use to remove buildup that usually appears on towels. They have a synthetic feel and don't absorb enough moisture to dry the dishes, they just smear the water on the plate. I hope that with repeated washings they can improve absorbency but they are disappointing.
