This only makes sense after adding coral algae. That and the borate in my tank didn't allow the algae to thrive, but it's definitely there. Maybe the snails will eat it, but the area is huge and some areas are preferred to be covered but not hidden from the snails. I don't have a borate test kit so I don't know the values. I added the suggested amount and then cut back. I don't know how much is adsorbed by the carbon in the filter or the crushed coral.
