It works and is easy to install. I haven't used the remote control since I bought it. Judging by other reviews, I was almost afraid the blue light would light up my whole house, but it's not really noticeable. The only downside (perhaps more of a fan issue than a distant issue) is how the lights are dimmed. There are two brightness control buttons that look like "brightness up" and "brightness down" but actually do the same thing. You have to hold down either button while the light cycles through the available brightness options. If you want to dim the brightness, you may need to hold the button down while the light ramps up to maximum intensity, then it begins to dim. If you hold it for too long, you may miss your goal and have to go through another cycle. A full cycle can take 3-4 seconds. Annoying, but not the main problem.
