not worth the trouble and smell

I'm trying my best to change my lifestyle habits around natural products and plastic waste. So I thought what could be better than trying the shampoo. My normal hairstyles are reminiscent of hippies. I wash my hair every 4-5 days. I don't usually style my hair, I don't put styling products on it, I just let it dry in beachy waves. I know you're probably in shock between washes. There was definitely a transition period where my body had to learn to stop producing as much oil. But in the end it came. So the idea of being a little more hippie with shampoo was not alien to me. I admit that it was difficult to fall in love with him right away during the transition period. For those who don't know, there will come a time when shampoo will rid your hair of previous shampoo and conditioner build-up. It's not a very pleasant process. It took four washes, about a week (my hair was terrible so I quit my washing routine) before my hair looked anything like normal. I think it took me less time than other users because my body is already used to producing less oil. The seller also recommends that you rinse your laundry with apple cider vinegar (acv) after washing. This will help speed up the transition and condition your hair (I know conditioning, who knew vinegar could do that). ACV definitely helped with the transition and it really helps. But as you can imagine, your hair smells like vinegar. I don't mind such a horrible smell but my poor friend loved snuggling with me and inhaling the sweet smell of my curls. Now he avoids it. Not the best air conditioning either. My hair is definitely not as soft as with my regular shampoo and conditioner. I wish this company also made a conditioner so I can see if my hair can be soft without traditional shampoo and conditioner. But for such an experiment, I can't imagine paying $20 for a bar offered by other companies. I also bought the Grapefruit Rosemary Lavender, which honestly smells like an odd earthy lavender. It washes my hair, among other things, and I can go 4-5 days between washes. In the beginning it was difficult to get foam. But after the transition it foams very well. I occasionally style my hair for special occasions and I have found that after using styling products my hair seems to be back until the very last step of washing. So I don't see how someone who uses styling products regularly is ever going to get out of the transition period. All in all I think I'll use up the bar but will go back to my regular shampoo and conditioner. Maybe in a year or two I'll see if this company offers air conditioners, or maybe other companies will drop prices. But it's not worth the effort and the smell.
