I don't know where to begin to explain how I love this teapot! There are so many little design details that make this kettle perfect for a campfire. Conceived, designed and built in Japan from Japanese stainless steel, it's definitely in my book. All connections are (spot) welded (or riveted) and even the spout is welded (as opposed to soldering; soldering is a much poorer method of attachment). The spout cover is a smart feature that keeps ash out. It also protects against dust and insects if you leave the kettle outside overnight, for example. However, when you're ready to pour, the spout flap snaps onto the lid, keeping the lid closed and the spout open: great! Please note that gloves are recommended for this! Inside the case is a baffle to ensure water flows out of the spout and not the lid (e.g. have you ever been frustrated with water z , the Partition eliminated that potential problem). There is also a small hole in the lid that has two functions: It emits a pleasant, visible stream of steam that indicates cooking. Also, the hole allows airflow during casting, avoiding the possible formation of a vacuum inside (which can lead to uneven casting). Regarding the hanging loop: There are stops to prevent the loop from falling forward through the spout when pouring. In addition, when hanging on the loop, the loop stoppers ensure that the kettle can tip forward for pouring; but not back. The lid has a pull tab on the back that allows it to be opened with a thumb push (i.e. opening with one hand, for example for filling) and then the pull tab also restricts the movement of the lid so that it stays open, but cannot land on the top of your hand. Very simple but very functional! Shape: For a fire, a "tall" cauldron makes sense, ie if you place the cauldron on a fire (floor to floor) then most of the heat will not flow through the bottom but most of the heat will conduct through the sides . With that in mind, the shape is perfect for using the kettle on a fire (as opposed to using it over a fire). Of course, you can still use it "over" the heat source; but then maybe a kettle with a flat and wide body is a little more efficient. Anyway if you like kettles and campfires I don't recommend this kettle. Final thought: the advertised capacity of 1.8 liters isn't a usable volume (1.8 fills the kettle to the brim of the spout). I consider 1.6 to be a more practical working capacity.
