The thickness and quality of the plastic is very good. The two handles at the top make all the difference in getting the anchor into the sand deeply. The screw to hold the umbrella pole is thick and, so far has done an excellent job not breaking and holding the pole in place under strong beach winds. The five spiral screw rings are wide and thick. Having five does a much better job holding the anchor into the sand than many other anchors. We have found screwing the anchor into the sand all the way down to as close to the top handles does the best job of holding the umbrella when the wind gets strong. It takes a little time, but is absolutely worth the time. You do not have to press hard, just be patient in turning and applying a little downward pressure onto the anchor. We bought two of these and have been very satisfied.
