I am new to this hobby. I gave up Petco Finrot Betta. He was living in a 1/2 gallon hospital aquarium while I continued to research everything there was to know about aquariums. I also managed to prime the entire aquarium with Revine. Thanks to Seachem, my extensive research (nitrogen cycle is an important thing to learn) and Revain Prime. I now have a full cycle super healthy aquarium! This stuff worked great. I have a beta. They have little bioburden. So it took me longer to adjust my cycle. 19 days. If I had time I would cycle without fish before I buy fish. But I saved him. But I didn't have that opportunity. He was 100% safe throughout the cycle thanks to Seachem Prime. Just follow the instructions. Use Seachem Prime every 48 hours. And test your water to track your progress! To be honest, I've had a lot of fun watching my progress. Every day I fell more and more in love with this hobby. I'm so glad I found this hobby! I have a Fluval Spec 5 gallon. And I overdid the stability dose by a few milliliters the first week. Attention: This worked, but also caused a lot of biofilm. It scared me. At first you will be a little foggy. And develop a biofilm. You probably won't develop as part of a biofilm unless you have good surface movement. Since I have a betta that likes calm water I had to close the outlet to slow them down. This slow surface movement, combined with an extra dose of stability, created a biofilm. However, once bacteria begin to grow in your filter, this film will begin to disappear on its own. It took about a week for it to be completely erased. It took about 10 days for the water to really clear and the film to disappear. My cycle was 19 days. Fighting fish have little germ load. This has contributed significantly to the lengthening of my cycle. If I had a higher germ load, it would not have taken 19 days. If I did a fishless cycle with ammonia, it would be very fast. After about 12 days of the cycle, I added the mystery snail. They have enormous germ loads compared to bettas. So I naturally dosed the stability for 3 days. To grow additional bacteria in my biofilter. It also lengthened my cycle. Everything happened exactly as I expected. And I'm new. 100% newbie. Now that I am on a cycle I will continue to add the recommended dose during my weekly water changes. I don't think this would be necessary if you keep the aquarium healthy. But it doesn't hurt and it's a good idea. I will also add this for a few days when I add new dwellers to even out the increased germ load more quickly. Seachem is a great company. Their products are a firm favorite among crafters. And their customer service is amazing! Just go to their website and email them. Or register on their forums. Or just go to Google and do a search. Maybe there is a fish forum somewhere with a user asking the same thing you want to know about. This product is in spore form. It doesn't need refrigeration. You don't have to worry about high temperatures during transport either. Of course, you don't want it exposed to the elements any more than necessary. But I know some brands are notorious for being "bad" in the shipping process. EXPLORE! Buy this. And have fun with your aquarium! This is a great product. Just don't forget to test the water. Most use the API master kits.
