Review on ๐Ÿ”ง BMC Universal Vacuum Pump: Handheld Brake Bleeder Kit Ensuring Efficient Auto Service & Food Canning with Brake Bleeding Tester Set by Joshua Romero

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I was a bit hesitant to buy it due to some bad reviews and I have a few comments to make.

I have successfully used this kit to upgrade an old dot3 from my 2005 Sienna. I was a little hesitant to buy it due to some bad reviews and I can offer some clues as to what happened when changing the brake fluid. One of the main complaints is that the pump cannot suck up old liquid. The pump creates 10-15 vacuum with 10-15 compression. So if it can't generate that vacuum, check the connections first. Worst of all is the connection between the auto bleeder and the hose. If yours is rusty, clean it first and use a small airtight clamp if possible. If you see a lot of bubbles, this may be the main reason. I also used silicone grease to coat the vent holes to prevent air from escaping through the threads. It may not be necessary, but I did it anyway. Make sure the small hose that goes into the reservoir is connected to the side of the caliper. If you have that little hose on the side of the pump, you're sucking liquid right into the pump(!). Yes I made that mistake but I stopped the bleeding when I saw fluid entering the pump line. If you have a vacuum of 10-15 and no liquid comes out, you may have a clogged exhaust valve. In this case you may need to either clean the air outlet (remove it from the caliper) or unclog it with a wire brush (a bit of compressed air will also help) or replace it. Just be aware that when you draw blood you are letting some air into your system, so be careful and you should be venting fluid. When you take the bleeder out you can pinch the hose that goes into the caliper with a secure (if plastic hose) clamp pliers. Finally, there are some good YouTube videos about it. You can see before you buy. By the way, this is my first time doing this and I'm not a professional mechanic. I'm giving 4 instead of 5 because it required some adjustments to level up successfully.
