Sizes are small. If you need socks for a 4 year old I doubt they will fit. We received these socks for our three (3) month old boy after being completely disappointed that the socks listed were too small for his age (I checked them before). Our 3 month old is 19lbs which is slightly heavier and these socks are perfect with little room to grow. They're snug but not tight and won't pinch your toes. They're made of thick cotton and they're all the same color, which means we don't have to play a match game. We hope it lasts until he is at least 6 months old :-)
