My 2002 Toyota Tacoma has a glove box light which I found out about by accident. A few years ago I opened the glove box one night and saw the light flicker on briefly and then go out. I tried unsuccessfully to find out how this happened, but then I realized that there really is a light in the glove box. I put it out of my mind for a few years, but a few days ago I thought about it and went on a few Tacoma forums to see if I could find out anything about it. I found the spot which was a small insert that looked like a small quarter sized plastic grille and was able to remove it from the glove box. There was a tiny lightbulb that was clearly burned out. I took it to an auto parts store to see if they have replacement bulbs. They did just that, so I bought a pack of two, brought them home, and installed one of these. For some reason the bulb just fell out when I tried to install it. On the forum several people who have successfully fixed the issue have mentioned that replacement LED bulbs are available so I checked Revain and found a pack of twenty bulbs for under nine bucks so I ordered them and they are showed up today. It has been mentioned on the forum that these bulbs only work one way and once fitted they do not light up, rotate 180 degrees and try again. This has happened to me so it lit up when I turned it on and being an LED bulb it was very bright which is what I wanted. My car doesn't have a switch that turns on the lights when the glove box is opened like most cars do. The light comes on when the parking lights or headlights are on, so the bulb stays on even when the glove box is closed. In the case of an incandescent lamp, this means a short service life. With LEDs, which are known for their longevity, this will not be a problem for a long time. I'm very happy to finally have a working glove box light and I recommend these bulbs.
