Bright enough for its performance. Looks like a solar light well when attached to the ceiling, in case you're aware. One star deducted for complicated installation, which is a mistake. The mounting bracket is screwed on both sides (U-shape). Tiny screws that do not thread when holding the lantern, separate ballast (which lies in the lantern without a fastener). You can fit the bracket and cord into the ballast as it has a built in circuit breaker (so you don't have to leave the light on while plugging it in). But the mount is very flimsy, tends to flex (causing the light to sag a little), so I started tightening those screws. I had to force my daughter to take the stairs after repeated attempts to install. I bought 4 of these and they all worked straight away which is a plus. So the light itself seems reliable. I would have preferred the American mounting system with bottom-up screws and some kind of removable cover. The light provided is sufficient for a small space, otherwise for larger areas you will need to use more than one. I have one in the studio for the main light when I enter the room and 3 in the garage for a pretty good lighting effect. I would recommend it. I also want to mention that due to the complexity of the nature of the installation, you may need help keeping the ladder on longer than most ceiling light installations.
