When you first turn it on, all the LEDs are the same color, but soon they start shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow and look very pretty. You don't have to buy a crystal or anything, it's pretty good the way it is. As soon as you connect the air pump, it produces a large amount of bubbles and works very well as an aerator. If you already have an aerator, you can easily install it without the air pump. Squeezing out the part that creates bubbles is very easy. You need to bury the airline and put some gravel on the ring. I also placed a large decorative rock next to one side, the light looks amazing reflecting off of it. I don't understand why there are so many reviews complaining about this item floating. For me it worked constantly as an aerator for a month and never moved. If you have a problem, consider using suction cup tube holders.
