Review on πŸ”§ Milescraft 1325 PocketJig200 - Enhanced Pocket Hole Jig Kit for Precise and Efficient Joinery by Daniel Ton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as good as Kreg but gets the job done for 2/3 the price.

Not as good as the Kreg R3 Jr., this pocket hole gauge is also 33% cheaper. It's up to you to decide whether it's worth saving a few euros. Don't get me wrong, it does everything it's supposed to, but not very well. First, the case is overly large and bulky compared to the Kreg. You'll have to disassemble all the pieces to put them back in place while you can leave the drill collar on the drill in Kreg. Second, the screws have a torx head, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but makes it difficult to buy additional screws. You can easily buy square head Kreg screws at any Home Depot or Lowes down the street, but you'll need a little effort to find ones that are Milescraft compatible. Third, the biggest problem is that the plastic stop in the device itself isn't very durable. It actually flexes a lot when you press on it (which you should do if you're applying it to a workpiece), meaning the holes aren't perfectly perpendicular to the edge. For pocket screws, this doesn't really matter as it doesn't affect holding power, but it does feel like it's going to break after repeated use. After all, it's only held in place by a tiny screw. None of this affects the end product when building your projects, but it's just a little tedious to use and store.
