Review on πŸ–₯️ Upgrade Your Gaming Setup with SAMSUNG's Borderless 144Hz LF24G35TFWNXZA Monitor with FreeSync and Flicker-Free Technology". by Bruce Malkowski

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good 1080P, 144Hz gaming monitor at an affordable price.

This Odyssey G3 from Samsung sits at the end of the Odyssey series, below the G5. While the G7 and G9 offer really impressive refresh rates and resolutions, the G3 is just basic Full HD 144Hz, not ultrawide, with no wide color or high dynamic range support. It's still a very functional display in a modern, sleek design. The bezels are very thin around the edge of the screen and the lower chin is a bit thicker. The Samsung name is on the front, Odyssey "O" on the back of the monitor. I like the overall look, it has a certain gaming aesthetic but isn't so flashy that it looks out of place in a home office or typical workspace. It's not currently available from Revain, but I think it's on sale for around $270. The panel type is VA, and even for one of them, it has a high contrast ratio of 4000:1. If you turn up the brightness, you'll notice that the backlight bleeds a bit at the edges and there are some black uniformity issues. Other than that, this is a decent VA panel. Maximum brightness is advertised as 250 nits, which is okay but not the highest brightness for a monitor in this price range. There is no information on the official product page about how much of the sRGB spectrum is covered, I would only estimate between 95-99% after testing. For port choices, you get 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x VGA, and 1x 3.5mm aux-out (headphone jack). There are 5 buttons on the right rear, four for menu navigation and the other is the power button. I didn't really like how the menu was organized but I could do anything to make it work. There are special modes for first person shooters and other presets that I never use and find they usually look worse than normal or cinematic mode. There are options for brightness, contrast, the overall build quality of this monitor is above average, everything looks solid and you can tell Samsung appreciates the attention to detail. To assemble the stand, you need a Phillips screwdriver, which is not included in the scope of delivery. There are only 3 screws for each of the legs at the base of the stand. The stand looks pretty good and is very solid, offering a full range of motion not common on affordable monitors like this. It's height adjustable, can be tilted, swiveled and rotated 90 degrees, and can also be used in portrait mode (like in a TikTok video). The chassis is still aimed at gamers, but it's more refined than the G7 and G9. From the front it looks like a standard modern monitor with an aspect ratio of 16:9. There's a hole in the bass
