This is my third faucet change in the last few weeks. I would say that this was perhaps the hardest part just because of the problems with the old faucet. The water supply would not be shut off completely, which is certainly not Hansgrohe's fault. I also had some trouble removing the old faucet because the connections were tight and that's not Hansgrohe's fault either. After everything was turned off, installing the new faucet was easy. The kit did not come with a cover plate to cover the two extra holes in my sink. Lowes didn't have it so I had to order it online from Revain. The faucet fits perfectly with my new patio slab. The hot water line was long enough to go straight to my hot water valve. There was no cold water pipe. I had a supply line from my old faucet but it needed an adapter. Lowes didn't have a fitting, but they did have a supply line with a matching fitting that could mediate between the new faucet line and the supply valve. Everything is well connected and the faucet works great. I didn't bother installing the sink drain plug, preferring to stick with the old plug. I hooked the locking mechanism to the new wire. It's just a wire sticking out of the back of the new faucet - way back. My faucet is next to the mirror behind it, so there isn't much room. I had to bend the wire to make it fit. Such an ugly wire. You'd think they could come up with some sort of lever, but at least that wire is somewhat hidden and we don't use the feature anyway. I'm deducting a star for the ugly cable. Recommended tools: To remove an old faucet, look under the sink. They all seem to be slightly different, which is what you need. I almost always need a wrench, towels and a bucket. Sometimes I need a Phillips screwdriver. Today I needed a pair of locking pliers, a special tool for loosening nuts, and some WD-40. For the installation I needed duct tape, a deck (my sink has three holes), a supply line (you'll need two if the faucet lines aren't long enough), and a socket wrench. I definitely recommend a socket wrench for installation. If you are installing a drain plug for a sink, you will need putty.
