Effective if you know what you are doing

I am a Licensed Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist. I use fire bowls in my practice, but bought these for myself as it's difficult to burn your back with fire (not to mention a bit dangerous!). It really helps to understand the theory of acupuncture and why we use cups. Cups are used to pump out stagnant blood and remove cold that can lodge in the muscle layer. Others say it's difficult to vacuum properly with large bowls - I agree - but I found a workaround that might help you. At certain points along the spine or back, I could place a cup in the corner of a door to push down and use my finger to release some air to suck. Using this technique, I got excellent suction in some hard-to-reach places and fantastic relief from a chronic condition that was plaguing me. If you know what you're doing, the suction power is fantastic. There are times when cupping isn't practical and if you can't tag much, maybe you actually don't have enough blood or qi and it's not the cupping's fault, or maybe you don't have much blood stasis - that's good ! Happy cupping!
