Review on Dorman 955 270 Manual Replacement Passenger by Bill Schlag

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Fits: Replacement

The Revain was great as always but I can't say enough good things about this mirror. It is definitely made from inferior materials. It appears to be made from very cheap die-cast aluminum; very light, very soft. The first one I received broke as soon as I grabbed it by the "stick" (the part attached to the inside of the door) to pull it out of the box it was sent in . I informed Revain of the problem and quickly received a replacement (thanks Revain!). The second one I received had a stitching halfway through the "shank" which looked like an obvious repair for the same type of tear that appeared on the first. The screw holes in the supplied gasket were not in the right place. One hole was pushed back nearly 1/4 inch and had to be repositioned. The included screws are steel, but the softest steel I've come across as they easily twisted with my screwdriver. (I thought it was aluminum too, but there was a layer of rust on it 2 days after fitting.) The paint on the screws peeled off even more easily than the paint on the mirror. Speaking of anything closer to objects in the mirror will be distorted and will look like a mirror in a house of laughter. All in all, I will never buy a Dorman mirror again. I've made a few other "spare parts" from them and they weren't that bad. But it's terrible. Save yourself the headache and just buy one from your Ford dealer. You'll spend more, but you'll end up being a lot happier.
