Plugged this into the back of my Apple Thunderbolt Cinema Display to convert a Thunderbolt port to a USB 3.0 hub and it works great. Please note that I initially plugged in an inexpensive Mediasonic USB 3.0 case: =8-3&keywords=mediasonic+usb+3.0+case and the hard drive was constantly and consistently unmounting. I wanted to blame StarTech, but I replaced the drive with a different case and it's been working like a rock for a month now. I remember reading recently that a while ago the Mac had an issue with a particular chipset that Mediasonic uses in their USB 3.0 enclosures. I just assumed that with the new 2014 Macbook this would no longer be a problem. I was wrong. Media Sonic USB 3.0 and Apple Mac specifically don't work very well together yet.
