The source must be at a low volume level or it will not work properly.

I almost returned this bluetooth receiver because it sounds like I'm listening underwater. However, when I lowered the volume from the source, it sounded better. I've tried it on a different speaker and source and it's the same. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work, but you need to turn down the source volume and then turn up the receiving speaker volume for this to work.
